Vancouver, BC – Vancouver Police have released images of a white pickup truck and two individuals believed to have information regarding the recent vandalism at the Khalsa Diwan Society Gurdwara on Ross Street. The incident, which occurred early Saturday morning, involved graffiti in both English and Punjabi spray-painted on the temple’s exterior walls.
“We believe these people may have information about this crime and what the motivation was,” said Sergeant Steve Addison. “We ask anyone who recognizes the people in these pictures, or the vehicle, to come forward and speak with our investigators.”
The VPD launched a criminal investigation on April 19, following reports of the hate-motivated vandalism near the intersection of Ross Street and Marine Drive in South Vancouver. According to investigators from the department’s Major Crime Section, the white pickup was seen in the area between approximately 4:00 and 4:30 a.m. Two individuals, believed to be associated with the vehicle, were captured on surveillance walking near the Gurdwara’s front entrance.
One person was described as wearing a yellow cap, yellow jacket, and black pants, while the other was seen wearing a grey hoodie and black pants.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the suspects or the vehicle to contact VPD’s Major Crime Section at 604-717-2541.
This incident has raised concerns within the community, with many calling for swift action and accountability. The Khalsa Diwan Society, one of the oldest Sikh organizations in North America, serves as a cultural and spiritual hub for thousands of families in the region.
