Chandigarh – The Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR) has issued a formal advisory to singer and performer Diljit Dosanjh concerning his live show scheduled for December 14, 2024, at the Exhibition Ground in Sector-34, Chandigarh.
The advisory emphasizes public health and child safety, referencing a World Health Organization (WHO) guideline that adults should not be exposed to sound levels exceeding a peak pressure of 140 decibels, while for children, the limit is reduced to 120 decibels. The CCPCR urged Dosanjh to refrain from inviting children onto the stage during performances where sound levels may exceed this threshold, citing potential harm to their hearing.
Additionally, the advisory requests that Dosanjh avoid performing songs such as ‘Patiala Peg’, ‘ 5 Tara, and ‘Case’—even with modified lyrics—that may promote alcohol, drugs, or violence. According to the commission, such content could negatively influence children of impressionable age.
The CCPCR also stressed strict compliance with legal provisions, ensuring alcohol is not served to individuals under 25 years of age, which would violate the Juvenile Justice Act and other laws.
The commission has called upon Diljit Dosanjh to adhere to these guidelines in the interest of child welfare and to set a positive example during his highly anticipated performance.
Authorities are expected to monitor the event for compliance with the advisory.
