Surrey, BC – Nearly two years after a shooting in Cloverdale, Surrey RCMP have arrested and charged two men in connection with the incident.
On December 17, 2022, police responded to reports of gunfire in the 6400-block of 188 Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 44-year-old man suffering from serious gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to the hospital and has since made a full recovery.
Investigations conducted by the Surrey RCMP Serious Crime Unit (SCU), with support from the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT), determined that the shooting was a case of mistaken identity. Over the past 23 months, investigators meticulously pieced together evidence, ultimately identifying two suspects.
On November 7, 2024, charges were approved against:
Juan Pablo Segovia-Sanhueza 23, from the Greater Toronto Area, Ontario, charged with attempted murder with a firearm and discharging a firearm with intent to wound or disfigure.
Terry Rodney Jeffrey McDonald 26, from Surrey, BC, charged with attempted murder with a firearm, discharging a firearm with intent to wound or disfigure, and arson damaging property.
Both men are currently in custody.
“As Canada’s national police service, the reach of the Surrey RCMP spans across the country,” said Sgt. Andre Johnny of the Serious Crime Unit. “Mounties are known to always get their man, wherever they might be, and this case is a perfect example.”
Due to the matter now being before the courts, no further information will be released.
