Surrey, BC – Surrey Police Service (SPS) and the Surrey RCMP Provincial Operations Support Unit (SPOSU) are investigating two unprovoked assaults that occurred late this morning, leaving one victim hospitalized.
At approximately 11:30 a.m., SPS Frontline officers responded to an assault in progress at a business in the 6400 block of 120 Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered that two men had been attacked-one physically and the other with a weapon- the suspect fled the scene.
According to investigators, the suspect began assaulting a staff member inside the business when a bystander attempted to intervene. The suspect then attacked the bystander with a weapon, believed to be a knife. Paramedics from BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) treated the staff member on-site, while the bystander was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect was last seen heading eastbound on 64 Avenue towards 121 Street. He is described as a South Asian man, approximately 30 years old, 6’-1” tall, with a heavy build and black hair. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a light-colored hoodie, possibly light purple, along with beige pants and white shoes. Authorities warn that he may still be in possession of a knife.
SPOSU’s General Investigation Unit has taken over the case with assistance from SPS officers. Despite an extensive search, police have not yet located the suspect.
Investigators are urging anyone with information about the suspect or the assault-especially those with photos, videos, or dashcam footage from the area’s to contact Surrey Police Service at 604-599-0502, referencing file numbers 2025-11329 (SP) and 2025-7544 (SU). Anonymous tips can also be provided through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
Mounties are also advised if anyone see the suspect do not approach him.
