Surrey, BC—On Saturday, September 21, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Surrey Fire Services will host a city-wide open house at all local fire halls, inviting residents to a free, family-friendly event. The open house will feature fire truck displays, live demonstrations, and the chance to meet the firefighters who protect their community.
“Surrey Fire Services is not just about responding to emergencies; it’s about building relationships within our community,” said Mayor Brenda Locke. “I encourage all residents to join us on September 21 to meet our dedicated firefighters and learn how together, we can enhance our safety and resilience.”
Fire Chief Larry Thomas echoed the importance of the event, stating, “These open houses provide an invaluable opportunity for our community to connect with the firefighters who work tirelessly to keep us safe. From responding to emergencies to educating the public on fire prevention, Surrey Fire Services plays a critical role in protecting the city.”
The event will offer valuable lessons in fire safety, give a behind-the-scenes look at the daily operations of the fire service, and introduce potential career opportunities in firefighting. As this is a live, working fire hall, crews may need to respond to calls, but additional staff will be on hand to ensure a smooth experience for all attendees.
