Surrey, BC – In a significant move, Surrey city councillors approved a dozen cannabis retail outlets on Monday night. Operated by eight businesses, these outlets will be established under a framework that requires them to be located at least 200 meters away from schools, community centres, and other cannabis retailers.
The Surrey Board of Trade (SBOT) expressed strong support for the decision, viewing it as a step towards a more inclusive and progressive business environment. Jasroop Gosal, SBOT’s Interim Spokesperson, emphasized the economic benefits, stating, “By enabling a regulated and responsible cannabis retail industry, Surrey is opening doors for economic growth, job creation, and revenue diversification, while enhancing consumer safety through a regulated market.”
