Khanauri, Punjab- Congress leader Sukhpal Khaira visited Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who has been on a fast unto death for the last 18 days at the Khanauri border. Dallewal’s protest highlights the farmers’ demands, which remain unaddressed by the central and state governments.
Expressing solidarity, Khaira criticized the BJP and Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government for their “insensitive attitude and stoic silence” on the farmers’ legitimate demands. “Farmers, especially from Punjab, not only made India self-reliant in food grains but also contributed their children to the defense forces safeguarding our borders,” Khaira said.
He urged both the Centre and the Punjab government to immediately address the farmers’ concerns. “I appeal to them not to play with their sentiments and accept their demands without further delay,” Khaira emphasized.
The ongoing protest continues to draw attention to the plight of farmers, underscoring the need for urgent resolution.
