Chandigarh –Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal has launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab, accusing Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and his administration of targeting opposition leaders through intimidation and false legal cases.
“Instead of controlling the law and order situation, Aam Aadmi Party and CM Bhagwant Mann are threatening the opposition with conditions that suggest the physical elimination of opposition leaders. Even the Leader of Opposition, Partap Singh Bajwa, is being intimidated with false cases,” said Badal in a strongly worded statement.
He condemned what he called deliberate attempts to silence the opposition through repeated police questioning and registration of false cases.
Badal also cited the recent deadly attack on Akali Dal leader and Ajnala in-charge Jodh Singh Samra. In the incident, one of Samra’s petrol pump employees was shot dead, and another seriously injured.
“These incidents make it clear that democracy itself is under threat in Punjab,” Badal warned. “Bhagwant Mann should set his house in order or resign immediately.”
The Akali leader called for immediate action to restore law and order and ensure the safety of all political figures, regardless of affiliation.
