Surrey, BC – A 21-year-old Squamish man, Gagandeep Singh Bakshi, has been charged with multiple criminal offences following an RCMP Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit (SPOSU) investigation into a December 16, 2024, shooting in Newton.
The incident occurred shortly before 6 p.m. in the 12600 block of 67B Avenue, where police responded to a distressed call from a woman, reporting that she and her husband had been shot while outside. A young child in their car was unharmed, while both victims suffered serious injuries and were rushed to the hospital.
Following an extensive investigation, Bakshi was arrested on January 15, 2025. The BC Prosecution Service formally charged him on January 16, 2025,
Search warrants were executed between January 16 and 17, 2025, at residences in Squamish, Delta, and Surrey with support from multiple law enforcement agencies, including Sea to Sky RCMP, Delta Police, Surrey Police Service (SPS), and the Integrated Emergency Response Team (IERT).
Bakshi has been remanded into custody until his next court appearance on February 10, 2025, at Surrey Provincial Court.
