Ottawa — Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced updates on Canada’s border security and trade efforts via a post on the social media platform ‘X.’ Reflecting on the implementation of Canada’s Border Plan, launched a month ago, Trudeau highlighted significant strides in strengthening border security and tackling illegal activities.
“We’ve added more security resources like drones, helicopters, and personnel, invested in new technology to detect fentanyl, and prevented more illegal border crossings,” wrote Trudeau. He reassured Canadians that the government remains committed to ensuring border safety, stating, “Our border is secure, and we’re making big investments to keep it that way.”
Trudeau also extended gratitude to provincial Premiers for a “frank and constructive meeting” held yesterday. The discussion focused on Canada’s response to harmful tariffs and strategies to safeguard the country’s free trade agreement with the United States. Emphasizing the government’s track record in defending Canadian interests, Trudeau declared, “We’ve done it before, and we’ll do it again.”
These developments underscore the federal government’s dual focus on protecting Canadians from border threats and maintaining strong international trade relations.
