Victoria, BC – Premier David Eby has announced a new provincial cabinet designed to address the critical issues British Columbians face today, combining seasoned leaders with fresh perspectives from outside government.
“At a time when there is a lot of worry and uncertainty about the future, British Columbians have asked us to work together and get things done that make a real difference in their daily lives,” said Premier Eby. “This experienced and capable team will focus on the priority issues we’ve heard loud and clear from people across the province.”
The newly appointed cabinet’s priorities include reducing costs for families, strengthening health care, improving community safety, and fostering economic growth that benefits all residents. Central to these efforts are building partnerships with Indigenous communities and advancing climate action to ensure long-term prosperity.
“These are big challenges, and tackling them will take listening and learning from diverse perspectives,” Eby said. “While British Columbians may not always agree, we all want the same fundamental things: affordable housing, safe communities, good jobs, and accessible health care. By working together, we can build a brighter future for everyone.”
The new cabinet, which includes 23 ministers and four ministers of state, is supported by 14 parliamentary secretaries. For the first time, women outnumber men in cabinet, and key roles are filled by individuals with relevant expertise and community experience.
Notably, the government has created separate ministries for ‘Energy and Climate Solutions’and Mining and Critical Minerals, emphasizing British Columbia’s role as a clean-energy leader and its potential to drive the clean economy.
