Surrey, BC – A tragic three-vehicle collision on the Pattullo Bridge late Friday night has resulted in multiple fatalities, prompting a full closure of the bridge for several hours.
According to the Surrey Police Service (SPS), the crash occurred shortly after 10 PM on the east end of the bridge in the southbound lanes. The collision involved two passenger vehicles and a semi-trailer truck.
Emergency crews, including Surrey Fire Service and BC Emergency Health Services (EHS), responded swiftly and attempted lifesaving measures on three occupants, but all were pronounced dead at the scene. A fourth person was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the semi-truck was not injured and remained at the scene. The deceased persons were Canadian born Punjabi boys aged between 18-19 years.
The Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) and the RCMP Criminal Collision Investigation Team (CCIT) are currently investigating the cause of the crash.
The Pattullo Bridge was closed in both directions for several hours but has since been fully reopened.
