Mohali- A multi-storey building collapsed in Sohana, Mohali, Punjab, triggering a massive rescue operation by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the Indian Army. The collapse is believed to have been caused by basement digging in a nearby area, though the exact cause is yet to be determined.
Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav is on-site, closely monitoring the rescue efforts. “The rescue operation is being carried out by NDRF and Army personnel, with the police supporting them. Priority is to save as many lives as possible,” he stated.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann addressed the situation on his social media platform, X (formerly Twitter), confirming that rescue operations are ongoing. Authorities have yet to confirm whether people remain trapped under the debris.
The area has been cordoned off, and heavy machinery is being used to clear the rubble as emergency teams work tirelessly to save lives. Further updates are awaited as the situation unfolds.
