Surrey-The police have recovered the body of Simran Khattra, a woman missing from Surrey. According to the information provided to Simran’s family by police officials today, on May 19, the police found a body in the Fraser River, and it took them almost a week to identify it. The family stated that Simran’s body was found in an injured condition, making identification very difficult.
The cause of her death is not considered suspicious. The Surrey RCMP offers its condolences to the family and friends of the deceased. Police do not believe that criminality was involved in the woman’s death.
Simran’s father, Varinder Khattra, questioned how the person who found Simran’s phone knew it belonged to her. The family had announced a reward of $10,000 for information leading to her whereabouts and had planned a large gathering in Surrey on June 1.
Nineteen-year-old Simran Kaur Khattra was last seen on April 27, 2024, at 6:30 PM near 88 Avenue and 133 Street in Surrey. At the time, she was wearing a black hoodie and gray pants. Family members had posted flyers in public places to aid in her search. Simran’s father stated that his daughter could never commit suicide as she was a courageous girl full of sportsmanship. The news of Simran Khattra’s body being found has spread a wave of grief through the Punjabi community in Surrey.
