Washington, D.C. – The U.S. Senate has confirmed Kash Patel as the new Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), with a 51-49 vote in favor of his appointment. Patel, a former national security official and key ally of President Donald Trump, takes the helm at a time of heightened scrutiny over the FBI’s role in law enforcement and national security.
In his first statement following confirmation, Patel expressed gratitude to President Trump and Attorney General Pam Bondi for their support.
“I am honored to be confirmed as the ninth Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation,” Patel said in a post on X. “The American people deserve an FBI that is transparent, accountable, and committed to justice. The politicization of our justice system has eroded public trust—but that ends today.”
Patel emphasized his commitment to restoring faith in the Bureau, vowing to support frontline agents while holding the FBI to the highest standards of integrity.
“My mission as Director is clear: let good cops be cops—and rebuild trust in the FBI,” he stated. “Working alongside the dedicated men and women of the Bureau and our partners, we will rebuild an FBI the American people can be proud of.”
In a strong warning to national security threats, Patel signaled a tough stance on crime and terrorism.
“And to those who seek to harm Americans—consider this your warning. We will hunt you down in every corner of this planet,” he declared.
Patel’s confirmation marks a significant shift in FBI leadership, with supporters praising his pledge for reform while critics express concerns about political influence over the agency. His tenure is expected to focus on accountability, transparency, and national security enforcement.
With the FBI facing ongoing challenges, Patel’s leadership will be closely watched as he works to reshape the Bureau’s future.
