Ottawa- Federal NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh has issued a strong rebuke of former U.S. President Donald Trump, accusing him of engaging in “economic bullying” against Canada. Singh shared his remarks today on X (formerly Twitter), where he called for decisive action from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to safeguard Canadian jobs.
“I’ve dealt with bullies all my life. And, the way to deal with them is to show strength,” Singh wrote. “I’ve called for Canada to establish a jobs war room to protect Canadian workers and families — Justin Trudeau must take this threat seriously. Protecting good, Canadian jobs has to be the priority.”
Singh’s comments follow recent remarks from Trump targeting trade and economic policies affecting Canada. The NDP leader has frequently advocated for stronger measures to defend Canadian industries, emphasizing the importance of proactive policies to counter economic pressures from global powers.
Singh’s call for a “jobs war room” reflects his push for a coordinated strategy to protect workers, strengthen local industries, and ensure economic security for Canadian families. The statement has sparked widespread discussion about Canada’s trade and economic resilience in the face of growing geopolitical challenges.
Trudeau’s office has yet to respond to Singh’s remarks.
