Chandigarh — The Government of Punjab has appointed Sh. Arbind Modi, IRS (Retd.), as the Chief Advisor (Fiscal Affairs) in the Department of Finance. In this role, Modi will be responsible for advising the state government on key financial matters, including resource mobilization, expenditure rationalization, and the augmentation and restructuring of fiscal debt.
According to the official order released by the Department of General Administration, Modi’s appointment will be on an honorary basis. Despite this, he will enjoy the rank of a Cabinet Minister and will be entitled to Travel Allowance (TA), Dearness Allowance (DA), and expense reimbursements according to the regulations applicable to Cabinet Ministers.
The order further clarifies that Modi is free to continue pursuing his professional career outside the government, provided there is no conflict of interest with his duties for the state. He will also be provided with the necessary residential facilities, secretarial staff, and a vehicle to fulfill his responsibilities.
This appointment has been made with the approval of the competent authorities, and it reflects the Punjab government’s ongoing efforts to bring in experienced professionals to guide its financial policies during a critical time for the state’s economy.
