Ottawa- Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced a major cabinet shuffle, appointing Ruby Sahota as the Minister of Democratic Institutions and the Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario.
Sahota, the Member of Parliament for Brampton North since 2015, has been a prominent figure in Canadian politics. Before this appointment, she served as the chief government whip and contributed to several key parliamentary committees.
The reshuffle comes in the wake of former Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland’s sudden resignation. Freeland’s departure has ignited a movement within the Liberal caucus, calling for a leadership change, putting additional pressure on Prime Minister Trudeau.
Ruby Sahota’s appointment is seen as a strategic move to stabilize the government while bringing fresh energy to the cabinet.
