VICTORIA, B.C. – BC United has introduced the “United to Fix Child Care” plan. “Under David Eby and the NDP’s watch, B.C. families continue to struggle with excessive child care costs and a critical shortage of available spaces, leaving 90% of families without access to $10-a-day childcare,” said Kevin Falcon, Leader of BC United. “Our children and families deserve better. It’s straightforward—child care should be affordable and accessible. Our policy, United to Fix Child Care, presents concrete, bold steps to transform child care in British Columbia and provide real support to families and child care providers.”
The BC United plan includes cash rebates for lower- and middle-income parents for daycare fees exceeding $10 per day. Additionally, the party promises a tax credit for families where child care is provided by parents, grandparents, or other family members. They also pledge to increase child care spaces by collaborating with the private sector and to raise wages for early childhood educators and child care workers.
