Victoria, BC– The final count for the 2024 Provincial General Election is now complete in all electoral districts, confirming the following seat distribution:
– BC NDP : 47 seats
– Conservative Party : 44 seats
– BC Green Party : 2 seats

Two electoral districts Kelowna Centre and Surrey-Guildford are subject to automatic judicial recounts. According to the Election Act, recounts must occur if the margin between the top two candidates is less than 1/500th of the total ballots considered. In Kelowna Centre, the recount threshold is 49 votes, with a current margin of 38 votes. In Surrey-Guildford, the threshold is 38 votes, with a 27-vote difference.
Applications for judicial recounts, in line with section 139 of the Election Act, must be submitted to the Supreme Court of British Columbia by November 4 . These recounts will be conducted by the Supreme Court, with timelines determined by the Court.
A record 2,107,152 voters cast ballots in this election, marking a preliminary voter turnout of 58.3%.
